Policies- Updated 1/12/23

Welcome to School of Rock! Thank you for entrusting your musical education to us. Please refer to this information regarding school policies.

HOURS

Monday - Thursday: 3:00PM-9:00PM, Saturday: 9:00AM-4:00PM
Closed: Friday and Sunday

We are closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

We do not offer makeup lessons for the above holidays. Because School of Rock is billed monthly, there are typically about four months out of the year when a student may receive five lessons per month at no additional charge. This balances out any missed holidays and we strive to ensure that every student receives an average of four lessons per month over the course of a show season.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHER POLICY

All of our instructors are working musicians who tour, record, gig, and occasionally get sick. This means that your child may have a substitute for lessons and rehearsals occasionally. We believe that substitutes can greatly benefit our students by supplying a new perspective on their progress as a musician.

BILLING AND MEMBERSHIP POLICIES
  • Bills are due on the 1st of each month via autopay from an on-file card or bank account.
  • A 3.5% processing fee will be service fee on all purchases made using the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. No fees will be charged on purchases made with a bank debit card or bank account.

  • A 24 hour notice via phone or email at baltimore@schoolofrock.com is required for all cancellations to be eligible for a make-up lesson.
  • In the event of a same day cancellation, even though a make-up lesson will not be issued, you will still need to call or email and let us know so we can make the teachers aware.
  • Make-up lessons expire after one month.
  • Make-up lessons can only be used with a current membership.
  • Make-up lessons cannot be stored in lieu of a monthly payment.
  • Make-up lessons are not issued for holiday closures.

INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

In case of inclement weather, lessons will be offered remotely or make-ups will be issued. Inclement weather changes will be communicated via email.

IN-PERSON LEARNING POLICY

School of Rock follows masking guidelines as determined by the CDC and our local COVID-19 Community level, which is based on the number of hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases in the area. If you have questions about our masking policy, please contact us at 410-366-7625.

All students must have a signed waiver (located in Pike13) to participate in programs that take place in our building. Please review our Vacation and Travel policy. In certain circumstances, we will require students to quarantine after travel. During quarantine (travel related or otherwise), students may participate in their lessons and rehearsals remotely.

Please stay home if your child (or you) are not feeling well. It is critical that we all do our part to keep our community safe. We have the ability to make music together because our community’s safety is our top priority.

EAR PROTECTION POLICY

We like to get loud when we play music here, so we require all students in rehearsals or on stage. All students must have some form of ear protection. Please see the front desk for purchase.

INSTRUMENTS

Playing and caring for your own musical instrument is an important part of performing and music education. Students should have their own instruments and accessories needed to practice at home, rehearse and perform. Guitarists and bassists should have and bring their own guitars, basses, picks and tuners. Singers should have and bring their own microphones. Keyboardists and drummers should have instruments at home to practice (we will provide keyboards and drum kits for lessons, rehearsals and performances.) Drummers should bring their own drum sticks to SoR.

Students who are interested in purchasing instruments through School of Rock can visit our online catalog here: https://www.schoolofrock.com/music-instruments-gear

Pike13 - ONLINE SCHEDULING AND BILLING SYSTEM

You can have access to your schedule, bills, and forms of payment through our scheduling program, Pike13. You can login here: https://baltimore-sor.pike13.com. You will also need to sign a waiver issued by Pike13 once you sign in. This step is CRITICAL in accessing our SOR app and supplemental learning materials.

PERFORMANCE PROGRAM SHOW FEES

Each student in a Season Show or Rock 101 is required to purchase a show fee for each season. The amount will be communicated at the beginning of the year and upon enrollment. This fee will cover the entirety of each season a student is enrolled in a performance band, and covers admission to Preview and Final Shows. Students and families can invite as many guests as they like.
